Listed on the local, state, and federal historic registries, The Ivy at Cornell’s Doorstep is steeped in Ithaca’s early history. It was built by the Morris family (Morris Chain/Borg Warner, Samuel Morris is a cousin) who for generations occupied one of three homes on the Edgewood Place cul-de-sac.
This stately structure features eight bedrooms, a total of 6.5 baths with expansive common areas, porches, and grounds. It sits in the heart of Ithaca’s historic East Hill and is a seven-minute walk to either downtown Ithaca or the main campus of Cornell University. Please step inside for a brief tour.
About The Ivy
The Ivy is a three storied clapboard structure with full sprinkler system and walk out basement.
First Floor
The first floor contains an entry foyer, living room, dining room, kitchen, front porch screened-in side porch and half bath.
Second Floor
Second floor has four (4) private suites with bath ensuite to each room. All rooms on the second floor have queen beds.
Third Floor
The third floor contains four (4) bedrooms and two full baths. All rooms on the third floor have double/full beds. One bed per bedroom.

Amenities
- There is Wi-Fi throughout the house.
- Each bedroom is lightly furnished with vintage furnishings, 100% organic cotton sheeting and window air conditioners. Towels and bedding are also provided with two pillows per bed.
- The kitchen is fully appointed for light cooking or a full feast. It has 2 refrigerators, a gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, and a pantry.
- The living room has a large flat screen TV with incoming cable system. There are two smaller TVs on rolling carts, one on each of the bedroom floors and not hooked to a cable system.
- The dining room table will seat up to 12 people with additional dining on the screened in porch (6) and at the banquet in the living room (6)
- The backyard platform sits right above the Cascadilla Gorge. There is a gas grill on site.
- The rustic carriage house in the front of the property features a 2 – 3 person hot tub.
- There is off-street parking for seven cars on site.
Location
Ithaca, NY East Hill District near the corner of Osmun Place and Stewart Ave. From the house, walk seven minutes down the hill to downtown Ithaca’s restaurant row and the Ithaca Commons. Going up the hill from the house, walk seven minutes to Cornell University and the adjoining Collegetown area. For a gorge trail downtown, cross the Stewart Ave bridge and take the gorge trail to downtown.
Drive 7 minutes to reach Wegmans and the Elmira Road shopping area. Find the State parks at Buttermilk Falls, Treman and Taughannock Falls within a 10-to-20-minute drive. Wineries, Cider Houses, museums, hiking trails and swimming are scattered throughout the Finger Lakes region and within easy drives from Ithaca.
